I have decided to offer something to every trainer/competitor.
Fixing problems that have developed along the way, and it
seems that can not be fixed, no matter what has being tried.
Normally it will take 30 sessions to correct a problem ,
but if you are considering this give me a call or e-mail me
with the details so we can discuss the options.
For example "chewing" on the dumbell means that you
begin your performance already with 94 points before you
even begun the routine !
Call me or e-mail meto discuss what can be done and
how long it will take! |
How important foundation
training really is?
From my observation in Schutzhund the average trainer spends most of
their training sessions to constantly fight long term unwanted behaviors.
Some of the behavior problems can be traced to the genetic predisposition
of the dog, but for the most part they are learned behaviors that the handler
has reinforced time after time. In other words they are training problems.
It is because of those unwanted behaviors that we see so many tricks
and gimmicks in dog training and on the competition field. Generally speaking
those tricks do not really correct the problems but merely try to mask
them. On top of that the quick fix solutions slowly but surely keep on
adding even more problems in the training…
Once the unwanted behaviors have developed, training is never as simple
as to give a command and the dog obeys it. The trainer has to go trough
a variety of (strange) rituals before and while the command is given in
order to make their dog perform correctly.
At this point the very promising young dog has already become nothing
but trouble
When did it all start? It could be as early as when the trainer began
working on the first “sits” and “downs”. So, what is in the “Sit“ command?
Besides the fact that the dog will learn what behavior to perform when
it hears the word “Sit” it will simultaneously learn how to learn! This
is where the so called foundation training begins. For better or worst
what the dog has learned during its foundation training will have life
lasting effect on its performances. During stress or problem solving the
dog will always go back for “help” to its foundation training. The foundation
stage is where the dog and trainer learn to speak the same language or
not!
This critical stage of training requires first and foremost knowledge
of animal learning, patience and numerous consistent lessons.
There are many places where trainers send their dogs to get a title,
usually after giving up on the idea of getting the title themselves due
to the problems they’ve created in their training. We have decided to offer
something different to you.
We offer a foundation work boot camp for the promising young
dogs. We will reinforce the genetic potential of the dog with the most
sound training available!
So you can get your own titles and become a successful team.
The average age that I find to be most productive is between seven
and fourteen months old. Of course like anything else in dog training there
are exceptions to the age range sometimes. This training averages from
two to three months.
The dogs will be trained by Ivan Balabanov, using the same training
philosophy that has brought him and his students so much success over the
years. |

Greg Bennett
USCA 2000 National Champion
I have known Ivan for a few years now and have always admired the way
he thinks about how a dog thinks. We first met about 1999 or 2000. I had
already been on a WUSV team with Troy. I was preparing for the following
year’s events when we had Ivan come in to do a seminar. What happened was
he not only helped me to see what I needed to do with my dog's weakness,
but he completely changed the way I look at dogs and how to make it "clear"
to them. It was truly a huge change in my approach after that. And we became
friends. I will always be grateful for Ivan's thinking outside the box
with the training and making me think differently.
Brian Currey
2007 Bouvier World Champion
I have had a great year with Ali my Bouvier; he has turned out to be
a great dog. I just wanted to say thanks. The training I did with you has
been the foundation of everything I do! You helped a lot!
Eric S. Eisenberg
USCA 2007 National Champion
I had a training problem which I tried unsuccessfully to solve for
a long time. I even had other trainers try to help me and they failed also.
I didn't know Ivan at that time, however I decided if anyone could solve
the problem using a method I would approve of Ivan could. I went and trained
with Ivan and he fixed my problem within three training sessions the first
day I was there. I spent a few more days training with and getting to know
Ivan. Ivan is a super trainer and a great guy. Ivan definitely helped me
on the way to achieving my goal of becoming the 2007 Schutzhund USA national
champion. Everyone who is involved with dogs could benefit from training
with Ivan.
Roo & Wallace
Purina Incredible Dog Challenge National Finals 1st place
Hello, my name is Roo and I have a Pit Bull named Wallace. Just
wanted to send over an email to say thanks for making your training videos.
A friend of mine had purchased a couple of your videos and I was able to
watch one regarding tug training. We saved Wallace from being put
down and after watching your video it gave me the basis that I knew I needed
for this little high drive pittie I now had on my hands. I mainly
started training just to get an out command, but the foundation we set
took us to places I never imagined. We got involved with the sport
of Frisbee dogs and the philosophies from what I saw on the video I watched
were very similar to how to train for this sport. In our sport it's
just one big game and the dog is in drive the entire time. The transition
Wallace made into the Frisbee dog world was incredible. In under
two years, I was able to take this "good for nothing" dog that was a "liability",
and turn him into one of the best Frisbee dogs around. Here's a recap
of our first two years together. We have won major competitions this year,
and just won the Purina Incredible Dog Challenge National Finals.
I have to get going, but I just wanted to say thanks for making your training
videos. The information is really great and this is just proof for
you that it expands beyond the sport it was produced for. Feel free
to check us out on You Tube or and www.wallacethepitbull.com Maybe
somewhere down the road I will be able to thank you in person.
Regards,
Roo
